I’m a 9 AM guy, and eight hours of fencing is usually enough for my body.
I arrive with all the tools to do the job. Typically, I have the materials delivered beforehand by my supplier. It‘s extremely rare for me to ever leave the site to go and get something for a job I have planned. I think it through and plan accordingly.
My Ford F550, with big workbox and handy dump bed, is loaded with a 2019 E26r Bobcat mini excavator with bucket, thumb and dozer blade.
My mini excavator is only five feet wide and on rubber tracks so it can fit through a six foot gap and move around your property with a minimum of damage.
I don’t generally include clearing or removing an old fence as part of a quote. Nor do I remove material from your property.
Having prepared the fence line with the excavator, if necessary, I remove the vibratorary post driver from its custom mount on the front of the truck and attach it to the excavator.
This excellent attachment combines the maneuverability and reach of the excavator with the efficiency of a vibratory post driver to far out perform a tractor with a post pounder on the back. I can install posts over ditches, between trees, behind buildings and on steep slopes quickly and efficiently. The hydraulic jaw grips the post as it drives it into the ground. If the ground is rocky or hard I can drive a four inch diameter metal spike in firs gas via t, before sending the wooden post down the hole created.
If square gate posts, like the 6x6 treated posts I use for main gates, are required, I will use my heavy duty hydraulic auger attachment instead of the vibratory driver attachment . I’ll set them in with cement and let them cure as I do the rest of the fencing.
When the posts are all in, I install top rails at the corners, ends and gates - or a full top rail, if specified, using cordless tools and innovative techniques to move quickly through the task. Cross bracing with berry wire and Gripples is also installed at this time.
Next I hang the large rolls of wire from the excavator boom on a custom made spool. I can run out 330' rolls rapidly, tacking the mesh to enough posts to hold it in place.
I then put aside the spool and use more tricks to add several hundred pounds of tension to the section.
Finally, I use one of my staplers to trot along the run putting in the rest of the staples before installing the gates.
I walk the new fence and check it is complete before I leave. Usually I do a video you can see via the link at the top of my site.
I carry a magnet to pickup my wire clippings and put them in my pouch. I make my small knees, braces, with all rail scraps so all I may leave onsite is a small pile of wood pieces less than a foot long. I take away all plastic tags, labels and other trash. It’s important to me to set the bar high in all aspects of my business.
